Share a Cloud Phone with a public link

How to create an xCloudPhone share link for people without an account, with or without a password, plus how to manage access and disable links when needed.

2 min read

Sometimes you need to let someone see or use your Cloud Phone without making them sign up for xCloudPhone — sending a demo to a customer, showing a live audience, or asking a friend to quickly check something. Share links let you do this with a single URL.

When to use it

  • Customer demos — send a link, the customer clicks and sees the phone immediately.
  • Live presentations — share with many viewers over chat or email.
  • Short-term collaboration — ask someone to check a bug without making them register.

If the recipient already has an xCloudPhone account and you want tighter control, use Invite by username instead of a public link.

How to create a share link

Open Share Sessions — Sign in and go to Dashboard → Share Sessions (app.xcloudphone.com/dashboard/share-sessions).

Pick a phone and click "Create share link" — Select the phone from your rental list and click Create share link. Each phone can only have one active link at a time.

Choose the access mode — Public (anyone with the link can open the viewer immediately) or Password-protected (the recipient must enter a password before seeing the viewer). Passwords must be at least 8 characters.

Choose the permission level — View (see the screen only, no interaction) or Control (see and interact like the phone owner). Think carefully before granting Control on a public link.

Copy the link and send it — The link looks like app.xcloudphone.com/share/<long random code>. If using a password, send the link via one channel and the password via another for extra safety.

Manage an active link

For any phone with an active link, the Share Sessions page lets you:

  • See who is connected — list of open viewer sessions.
  • Edit the link — change the mode (Public ↔ Password) or update the password. If you leave the password field blank while editing, the system keeps the existing password — only enter a new value if you want to change it.
  • Change the permission between View and Control.
  • Disable the link — click "Disable link" and the URL stops working immediately; any open sessions disconnect.

Security warning

A public link = anyone with the link can enter. Never post share links to social media, public forums, or large group chats unless you genuinely want your Cloud Phone exposed.

Some principles worth keeping:

  • Always use Password mode for phones holding sensitive data.
  • Prefer View over Control unless the recipient really needs to operate the phone.
  • Disable the link as soon as you no longer need it.
  • If you suspect a leak — disable immediately and create a new one.

For important customers, combine a strong password (≥8 characters) with View permission to limit risk. After the demo, disable the link rather than leaving it active.
